About NaMEC 2026
Building on the success of its inaugural convening in 2024, the National Medicolegal & Ethics Conference (NaMEC) 2026 returns as a distinguished national platform for critical discourse at the intersection of healthcare, law, and ethics. It convenes an esteemed assembly of clinicians, legal practitioners, policymakers, regulators, and academic leaders to engage with the pressing medicolegal challenges shaping contemporary medical practice.
Anchored by the theme “The Ethics of Risk, The Law of Care,” NaMEC 2026 interrogates the complex realities of modern healthcare - Where clinical uncertainty, evolving legal frameworks, and heightened societal expectations demand sound judgment and principled decision-making. The conference examines how healthcare professionals navigate risk, uphold accountability, and maintain ethical integrity in an increasingly scrutinized environment.
Through a curated programme of keynote addresses, expert-led panels, and in-depth case deliberations, NaMEC 2026 delivers both intellectual rigour and practical relevance. Participants will gain strategic insights and applied knowledge to confidently Decide. Defend. Deliver. in today’s dynamic medicolegal landscape.
Welcome Address by the Chairperson
“In medicine, every decision carries weight - but it is in moments of uncertainty that our ethics, our judgment, and our humanity are truly tested.”
It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the National Medicolegal & Ethics Conference (NaMEC) 2026, themed “The Ethics of Risk, The Law of Care.” Decide. Defend. Deliver.
Following the success of our inaugural conference in 2024, NaMEC returns as a meaningful platform for dialogue at the intersection of healthcare, law, and ethics. In today’s evolving healthcare landscape, we are continually challenged to make decisions that balance clinical judgment, legal responsibility, and ethical integrity.
This year’s theme reflects the realities we face in everyday practice - where uncertainty is constant, and our choices carry profound impact. It is my hope that this conference will not only deepen our understanding of medicolegal principles, but also inspire thoughtful reflection, shared learning, and a renewed commitment to compassionate and responsible care.
NaMEC has always been more than a conference - It is a space for connection, collaboration, and collective growth. I encourage all of you to engage fully, exchange ideas openly, and take this opportunity to learn from one another.
My sincere thanks to our speakers, sponsoring partners, and my wonderful organizing committee for making this conference possible. To all participants, thank you for being part of this important journey.
We look forward to welcoming you.
Dr. Adeline Marie Gnanasegaran Xavier
